I came across the movie Iracema - Uma Transa Amazônica (1976) from the directors Jorge Bodanzky and Orlando Senna in a movie theatre in São Paulo. It resonated deeply with myself at that moment.
Despite the Amazon rainforest as a central element in the film he has two prominent non-human characters, the trucks. As seen above.
I hunted a copy of the film at the São Paulo cinematheque and copied two frames onto a 35mm roll of film.
Then, I enlarged them and printed them at a size of 2.55m by 3m.
Got hold of the scripted part of the collection of the cinematheque, separated by characters and gave asked several friends to read them without knowing from where it came from.
Afterwards, I edit all audio tracks into one as a text, as someone reading the text, script, without intending to sync with the movie.
Cut off those two frames of the movie and add the new audio track.
At the solo show I presented the movie in loop alongside the two large prints.
Solo show installation showed at Miss’opo, Porto, Portugal
